Heaven’s Tear

Posted in Poetry with tags , , on August 20, 2014 by Stephen Hare

The sword can never still the cry
that from the ground sought God’s ear
the blood of righteous Abel found
grace in the form of heaven’s tear

The blood of the martyrs finds its way
down into the sands that hold
the voice that time will never erase
recorded in the heart of God

Will then His judgment forever wait…
and what will heaven’s answer be?
While there is time, guilty come
with empty hands on bended knee.

Canvas of Dreams

Posted in Poetry with tags , , , , on August 20, 2013 by Stephen Hare

Fire of God suspended in

The skies that by His hand were drawn

Voices of the birds that wake

Rejoicing at the break of dawn

Canvas of dreams spans the ‘scape,

as cloak of night descends to veil

The Bride that sleeps who soon will wake,

Her purpose soon God will reveal

Given all creation’s voice

How can you say that you can’t see?

You must decide, … and it’s your choice;

Where will you spend eternity?

Treasure in the Field

Posted in Poetry with tags , , , , , , on February 27, 2013 by Stephen Hare

Resplendent with the light of God

Are those whose feet tread hallowed sod

To bring good news to those in sin

For whom the Son of God has died

Light not seen by all who gaze,

Nor those who’d wander all their days

But those whose hearts turn toward the Son:

The blind who by faith see

Beauty beyond the depth of skin

Intangible, yet felt within

Mystery of divine origin

Ageless as the gift of grace

Unseen by the natural eye

Nor yet views the passerby

The light in vain men would deny

Once the veil God should remove

As sun reflects upon the deep

So God’s Spirit on those who keep

All His ways from dawn till sleep

Arrests those called to bear

His light to those who in darkness wait

Who long have dwelt outside the gate

Helpless to avert their fate

Blind till with their hearts they see

The Son of Righteousness arise

Removing scales from their eyes

Cords of sin His power unties

Realm of darkness the more decreased

The measure hidden in the meal

In His time God will reveal

His glory in those who bear His seal

His treasure in the field…

mirror 3

Transcendent Life without end

sent to free us from our sin

that those beneath might live above

with Him who offers boundless love

Salvation’s Light in darkness shined

that those who “see” might be made blind

The blind thereby receive their sight

native-born now to the Light

Light of truth broke chains that held

by lies enslaved; in darkness dwelled

Now image bearers of the Son;

now mirrors of the Risen One

Too Soon

Posted in Poetry with tags , , , , on December 6, 2012 by Stephen Hare

Sealed within the heart of man,

dreams placed by the Master’s hand

hopes that would The Tempter seek

by guile to steal away

While men seek to find their dreams

evil lurks behind the scenes

The Accuser would by sin ensnare

– how high the price for earthly gain!

Conscience made anew by grace

thus empowered to run the race

visions of kingdom power released

the goal,  no earthly prize

Stewards of this gospel light,

breaking powers of the night

fleshly weapons cannot avail

gainst the “Spoiler of Souls”.

his desire, the church – as wheat to sift

from God’s ways would cause to drift;

alluring and subtle his plots to deceive

great is his wrath, and his time… shorter still

Perceptions keen, Spirit led

hostile lands before us loom;

Our mission clear, but can we see?

Lo,  the Reapers come too soon…

The Shadows Retreat.

Rarest light – ever bright,

surrounds the slight of years…

pure as dew before mingled with earth

without voice speaks of joy’s guiltless tears

Though born in sin, and tainted within…

the heart by sins cords not yet bound;

The sting of death that steals of breath,

its mark has not yet found

Why have you not gazed upon cursed fruit

from the womb of disobedience spawned?

But the awareness of evil has not yet

on the conscience of innocence dawned…
